Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. Typical hours are 11 am–9:15 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and San Diego follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Absolutely LOVE Steamy Piggy. The smells alone could feed my soul, but the food is so phenomenal I never leave hungry. In fact I always want to order more because it's so good. Wish I had 3 stomachs. Katelyn our server was so nice and kept our waters filled! Will absolutely be back again and again. We had the Steamy Piggy bowl, Spicy Ramen, Beef Chow Fun, Kawaii Buns and the Chili Wontons!

It’s been awhile since we last ate at Steamy Piggy and today, they continue to not disappoint! We ordered a couple of old favorites (red braised pork belly and piggy bao) and tried some new ones (chili wontons and salt & pepper chicken wings). DELICIOUS! Their service was prompt and efficient. Shout out to TIM for taking care of us and his excellent service!

Good not great. The food was decent but the Baos itself could have been better had it not been fusion. But if you’re looking for fusion over authentic, then perhaps it fits perfectly for your appetite! There is a wait but the wait is not too long. Lots of indoor and outdoor sweating. Service was excellent and food came out quick!

Very cute spot for fast, casual dining. No wait on midday Monday. Sat outside and it was great; airy without being too cold. Got the bao flight - pretty good, although the pork one fell apart when my daughter lifted up because maybe the sauce got the bread too soggy? The bulgogi and chicken ones held up and were tasty. It’s $1 cheaper per bao for the β€œhappy hour” deal. We also got the spicy ramen which were not too spicy but still tasty nonetheless. The beef chow mein was a tad too salty for my palette but it might just be me. Overall not a bad spot … recommend!

While vacationing in SD, we were looking for places to dine and tried Steamy Piggy based on the great reviews. The portions are big and we were not disappointed. The soup dumplings, bulgogi roll and bulgogi chow mein were good but the red-braised pork belly was what really stood out for me. I would definitely return specifically just for this dish. Shout out to Cam, our excellent server, for suggesting we try it.
